The 6th International Oyster Symposium

On October 21-23, 2015, the 6th International Oyster Symposium (IOS6) of the World Oyster Society provided a forum for displaying and discussing the diversity of visions and applications thrust upon the ancient oyster by 21st century human aspirations within Science, Industry, and Culture.  

The symposium aimed to bring together thought leaders and stakeholders in oyster science, industry and culture anywhere in the world on:

  •     Current and future sustainable culture of oysters

          •     Advancing industry’s use of oysters as human food

         •     Adapting with oysters to exacerbated environmental changes in coastal areas, innovative applications to improve water quality, restoring biodiversity, and sustaining our coastlines and harbors

         •     Improving public knowledge of oysters and empowering communities through art/culture and traditional knowledge about oysters for the benefit of humankind.
